Work Experience

UI/UX Front-End Web Developer / Social Media Administrator (Feb 2012 - Present)
Palmetto GBA, a Subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina

Take requirements from internal and external customers to produce wireframes via Balsamiq and other low-fidelity tools, then iterate on those wireframes to reach full interactive mockups and eventually the final HTML, CSS, and Javascript for the project.

Projects vary in scope from internal employee resource sites to full front-end redesigns for our main Medicare contract websites and our secure web portals. I am required to work in conjunction with multiple Agile teams simultaneously. This required creating strong yet flexible design patterns and style guides for all teams to use, regardless of project size. I am also responsible for maintaining the company’s overall brand guidelines on all projects.

Pushed for the company to move to a mobile-friendly responsive framework (Bootstrap 3) with our last full redesign. Currently in process of moving sites to Bootstrap 4.

All projects are required to follow Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act, requiring a variety of usability testing in both WAVE and Google Chrome’s Developer Tools.

Update and maintain the company’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Linkedin. This includes answering user questions, reporting, and analysis, as well as finding ways to automate processes and post to multiple channels simultaneously. My responsibilities also include creating and executing campaigns to increase user activity and satisfaction.

Maintain and report on the company’s customer service chat system (Sightmax Opus) and our monthly satisfaction survey (Foresee.) In cases where we couldn’t perform proper user interviews or focus groups, the data from these tools proved vital for developing personas and journey maps, gathering results of A/B tests we were performing, and allowing us to see exactly what features our customers wanted added or improved on our website and secure portals.
